I am not insisting anyone gets involved. I am just responding. Feel
free to ignore this discussion if you prefer. :-)

It doesn't matter whether there was or was not sensitive information
in the email: general social convention with most people, and
certainly in every community I have ever known, is that you *never*
forward on private emails to a public discussion list/forum without
express permission first.

I understand that Randall asked Ben to not email him further, which he
is entitled to do. If Ben wanted to pursue the discussion in a public
setting I think the best thing to do would be to start a fresh thread
to discuss what is on his mind (without forwarding material from the
private discussion).

Totally. We all make mistakes - I am not trying to turn this into a
big thing. If Ben says "oh yeah, I probably shouldn't have sent it to
a public list" that is totally cool: we all make mis-steps from time
to time. I certainly have. :-)

I just wanted to share some feedback that I think part of our social
convention on this list should be to respect private conversations and
keep them private. I love both Ben and Randall, so this is mean't in
the nicest possible way.
