[U-co] ayuda python pip install

ando probando un sw el cual me pide python 2.7 (que ya esta en ubuntu
12.04) y unas dependencias de python que son argh. en la internet's
dicen que se instala el python-pip y luego se ejecuta pip install argh
pero me saca:

root en ubuntu12:~# pip install argh
Downloading/unpacking argh
  Cannot fetch index base URL http://pypi.python.org/simple/
  Could not find any downloads that satisfy the requirement argh
No distributions at all found for argh

alguien sabe que pasa ?? no es que no tenga acceso a la url por que ya
probe y si carga almenos por http...
