If you're soliciting ideas for development on ubuntu ec2 images, I'd put in
a request to have an image that can work on both the standard ec2 instances
and the new cluster compute instance types that are part of the amazon high
performance computing stack.

Has Amazon published enough documentation on how to create hpc compliant
images to make any ubuntu image possible?

An ideal setup for me would be an ubuntu ebs backed image that could be run
as a standard m1.large instance most of the time, and then launched as
multiple cluster instances when I'm ready to do a heavy duty computation
task.
