[ubuntu-cloud] How are alestic images built?

Hi,

I sort of alluded to this question in a recent post, but thought I'd
state it in more clear terms. Does anybody have documentation on how
alestic images are built? Is there an official doc? how are AKI and
ARI selected? Some posts seem to suggest that vmbuilder is used, but
it seems there's more to it than that. Also how is the AKI image
built?
