</div>You have Ubuntu 12.04, and even that's more than you should need to know to do what you're trying to do.<br>
<br>
Might I suggest that instead of downloading and installing some unknown piece of software from some unknown source,<br>
you use the tools that come with the OS.<br>
<br>
Open the Ubuntu Software Center (by, for example, tapping the "Windows" key until the dash appears, entering<br>
"software" in the search bar, then clicking on the "Ubuntu Software Center" icon).  Type "java" in the search field of<br>
the Ubuntu Software Center.  Click on "OpenJDK Java 7 Runtime" and install the appropriate Java7 for your computer.<br>
Make sure the "Web browser plugin" box is checked if you want Java applets to run in your web browser.<br>

You can also browse the Ubuntu Software Center for other programs you might enjoy using.<br>
