Agreed - DSL is helpful even for recovering files from Windows boxes where the hard drive is a bit twitchy (and no longer bootable). I especially love the speed inherent in loading the entire OS to RAM.<br><br><div><span class="gmail_quote">

<div>Honestly, even though this is an Ubuntu list, I'd say get a small, fast booting distro such as Damn Small Linux in order to quickly recover data and diagnose other problems.<br>I always have a CD of it on hand, and it's been good help, especially when working with older machines.
