USB 3.0 hard drives are usually pretty standard hardware and supported in Linux.

Most Linux kernels on desktops are configured to support the more common Windows file systems (eg. NTFS), so that too
will probably work. You may have difficulty running the bundled bloatware that comes on a pre-formatted hard drive
because its usually Windows-only.  You would also have the option of reformatting it to your own liking.

The only problem you are likely to encounter is if the disk is pre-formatted in a special encrypted format that
requires something installed on a Windows host to use it.  Even then, the hardware will work and you can reformat into
a standard, supported format.
