Could the upgrade have removed the YouTube unity-webapp?  

Try (in a terminal):
sudo apt-get install unity-webapps-youtube

Then it should appear as an app when you search for it in the dash, and
can re-add it to the launcher. 

Unless I totally misread that your issue.
