Hi Raymond,

You loose other things as well with VOIP, primarily audio frequency
range, so you will loose the high and low end of the audio frequency
spectrum.  This may or may not matter to you, but try talking to
grandchildren, it can get hard to understand what they are saying, or
somebody with a particularly high pitched voice.

There is nothing wrong with using VOIP, provided you maintain a basic
land line and POTS, sorry "plain old telephone system", for emergencies.
