I've just bought regular drives and external drive enclosures separately
(from Newegg), rather than pre-built externals. Depending on what
kind/amount of data we're talking about, that might be sufficient for you.
If you wanted to go further, you could build yourself a home NAS with RAID
1 pretty easily too.
