Subject: Re: Question

Installing Java from the Oracle installer is a bit tricky. I wouldn't
recommend it for a newbie.

Fortunately, some folks have made it easier. There's a PPA you can
install from:

http://askubuntu.com/questions/133216/trouble-installing-java

(Read the answer). That site gives instructions on how to install
from the command line. Which is easier to describe and probably
faster if you know how.

If you're not comfortable with the command line, though there are
instructions to add a PPA from Software Centre:

http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/how-to-add-a-ppa-to-software-sources-in-ubuntu

The PPA you want to add is called "ppa:webupd8team/java" and the
package you want to install is "oracle-java7-installer".

Darcy.
