Like the Galaxy Nexus phone, the Nexus 7 (I've got one) doesn't have
an option to go into Mass Storage mode. Your only options are MTP
(for music and other media) and PTP (for pictures).
I don't see the Nexus 7 in Ubuntu when I connect via either, though.
I have used Ubuntu One to get files onto both my Galaxy Nexus and
Nexus 7. It works in a pinch, but is pretty tedious if there's a lot
to transfer.
