Release Parties

Hello Canada!
Vancouver will be hosting a *U-Party* in June. (That's our official name
for them.)
Why oh why so late, you ask?
1) It's a party, not an install-fest,
2) We've learned that if we have an event closer to release date people
expect tech,
3) The people in #2 are already into Ubuntu, and will come regardless.
**We want people who have never heard of Ubuntu to party with us.** The
stated goal of Ubuntu is to cross the chasm and bring free software to
the masses.
4) Computers kill parties, with precision ;)
And why don't we call them "Ubuntu Release Parties?"
The general public cannot understand how a computer (or software) themed
party could possibly be fun, and therefore won't come. When's the last
time you heard someone say "Wow, I went to that <insert proprietary OS
name here> party the other day and it rocked!!" Not gonna happen in our
lifetime ;)
Party!
Cheers,
Randall
