While we are spreading Ubuntu, let's not forget that it helps free
software and Ubuntu when we get more non-proprietary alternatives on
Windows and people are comfortable with using them. Burn some copies
of OpenDisc and give those stuck in the Microsoft mud something clean
to step on as they work their way out of the mire.

Hundreds of computers were lost in the Slave Lake fire along with the
software that was on them, and likely any installation media, serial
numbers and receipts. Those unfortunate people now have to replace
hardware and all that software. While we might get a percentage of
them to accept donated computers with Ubuntu or Edubuntu, most will
likely purchase new or used machines running Windows, with the usual
demoware and garbage. Why don't we send a mix of Ubuntu and WinFOSS
discs to key organizations that are dealing with the resettlement of
evacuees?
