left panel problem

An update could have fixed it.
An error check that runs after a set number of starts could have fixed it.
I hate to say it but maybe restarting fixed it. Brrrr!
Have your checked your logs, system, admin, log file viewer., the files can
be huge but it can be informative to learn what they look like.
Have you tried googling the problem?, look for wiki or Ubuntu address in the
list.
