toolbars

Hi,  I have Ubuntu 10.10 installed in a Toshiba p-300c laptop and when I use
Firefox browser and I open a page I loose the top and bottem toolbars. with
chromium this does not happen. If I hit the screen saver key it restores to
normal but the moment I hit a key the toolbars vanish again. I followed the
firefox troubleshooting procedures with no success. I flushed FF and
reinstalled with no results.   Any ideas .   Ray
