How to fork?

Basically involves a lot of the repository; and building the cd-rom; I haven't tried changing the UI in the live cd though

So i want to "Fork" Ubuntu. Nothing major, just removing some packages add some. Moreso for myself then anyone else. I've seen guides before hand when i thought they were useless. Does anyone know of a place these should be? Also sorry if this isn't "list appropriate"
