I can provide you with a guide of how to assemble a PC, and parts to order from either Newegg.ca or CanadaComputers.com if you wish? I would come right to you, but i'm in peterborough. Post a budget i can post links.

I live in Sutton, not that far from Orillia and can sort out most things for a standard desktop. Are you looking for a specially dedicated machine ? I'm thinking about building a 'media server' but haven't pursued it beyond thought yet....

I'm confused.
Are you asking if there is someone who would help you to install ubuntu on your hardware?
If so, I can meet you in a cafe with your hardware and install disc
of your choice and install it for you.
Sorry if I am mis-understanding your question.
Thanks,
Anita.

Hi Hugh,
If you find anyone local, let us know. That would be awesome.
You can order machines with Ubuntu pre-installed from a few US
retailers online. I've used System 76 (http://www.system76.com/), and
I'd be happy to recommend them, although be aware that shipping to
Canada is a bit expensive and there's a chance you might get nailed by
brokerage fees.
There's also ZaReason (http://zareason.com/), which I haven't tried,
although I'm told the shipping situation is better.
Darcy.
