Alfred,

I would strongly advise you to look for help from a local Linux group or store to avoid loosing any data that might be left on your machine. If you are close to Mississauga there's a caffé/shop that holds a free support service once a month (http://caffenix.com/support/free-computer-makeover). Otherwise any local LUG should be more than happy to help you.

To answer you question without getting into much details, you should be able to change the permissions on that temp directory (with 'chown') from the live CD. I would advise in not deleting the folder or contents and trying to figure out what they have inside.

I had a look at my Linux Box Hard drive today. In the Home Folder my 
Desktop, and home folder files are still intact. In the home folder 
there are 3 TMP files that I don't have permission to remove, and there 
is 1.6 Gigs of space left on the hard drive. I tried to remove the TMP 
files, but could not. The Mother board is a Asus Sata MOBO, It had one 
ide Port, and 8 Sata Ports. I'd probably need to add a hard drive, to 
have some space. To Copy over about 50 Gigs of Files. With the 1.6 Gigs 
left, that could take a very long time. The Drive is called 240 GB 
Filessystem, but is probably sda, as there are no other hard drives at 
the moment. Using a live edition 32 bit Ubuntu Install disc, I'm a 
little confused as to what password to use for sudo. To try to get the 
permission to remove the tmp files that are taking up all but 1.6 Gigs 
of my hard drive.

It was not a Death Threat that I made, but a Warning. Being seen as a 
Nerd, means on an almost regular basis, every few months, People try to 
Kill me, and turn things upside down for me, and when they do it with 
me, often, not always, it is the last time they get to do it, even if 
the Authorities can't find the person, or who dun-it. Very bad things 
happen that I made no effort to try to make happen. So I know it was out 
of place, but I just made this new Linux Box, and it was working real 
good in January, but now all my Linux installations on three Computers 
are not working. I'm hoping that my Linux Box Falls into the Upholstery 
Machine, and is fully Recovered. :) It would save a whole bunch of work 
trying to piece it all back together!
