This all started in January. A person from this list, told me about a
Puolsbo Chip fix for an Acer Aspire One. In order to download the
required fix, you had to use sudo to get the fix File. I know that using
Sudo is risky before going on the web, but this person made it sound
like this fix really worked for him. So I gave it a try. I was
Downloading about 1.2 gigs of files, and that Poulsbo Fix, whish cost me
about $60.00 in High Speed Internet fees, over a three day period. On
the last day there was that Poulsbo Fix, that was supposed to fix the
video problem. When I rebooted 184 Megs of Software got deleted from my
machine the Acer Netbook, and there was a criptic message about what to
do which had no effect at all, it was a complete, start over from the
beginning sort of thing. I lost about $200 worth of software Downloads
in addition to those last three days. Plus my Accounting, Plus many of
my personal files. The last backup was about a month earlier. I wrote
this person from this list an email telling him what happened. and
suggested that if it was his doing that caused, the problem, perhaps he
should stop doing that, because some other person might get rather
Violent with him. Which is the Truth! From that time on, it just
continued month after month. On Three Computers all my Installations got
destroyed. All my backups acted like viruses, all my Personal files got
completely destroyed, about 30 gigs of Pictures from my Mother She's
dead now, letters, Emails I sent to people, things I did. ODSP Files,
all got destroyed. When I tried to restore the backup it put 224 Gigs of
Junk on my Hard Drive, so My Linux Box the second one would not even
boot. Something about GDM not able to be Accessed. I keep that hard
drive in tact. During the time my First Linux Box had a 100 % CPU usage
that cooked my Athlon XP -$170 loss. My second homemade Linux Box had on
it easily $300.00 in Linux Software just in Download fees. The Back ups
with Simple backup did not work. So I lost all of it!
I made mention of these things on this list and got no reply, I made
mention about this on Landscape, and got lots of excuses, and no help at
all. Fact is I've lost confidence in Landscape to help me with anything!
It could really be anyone, and none of you on the list, and I stated
that, and all the BS, well that's my experience with this world, it may
seem like BS to you out there, but to me it is not. I just got very
Frustrated, that for months now I'm not able to use Linux. I don't have
much faith in Windows, but it seems to work ok now, not like windows 98.
All I have now is a bunch of Photo's that need Scanning, and a few CD's
with bits of data on them.
Today I met someone that confided in me that they were a Computer
hacker, and that it was not very nice of me to refer to Computer Hackers
as Some Computer hacker. She Spoke like her hacking and destroying
Peoples Property was some sort of Rightious thing that she was doing.
Hackers have cost me Thousand of Dollars, and perhaps I missed something
along the way. I've known about some Religious Angle, but then I'm not
from that religion. I didn't want to live the way they do. Hey within
that religion, everyone can live by it's laws, but I have the right to
live by what I would like to live by, and I live and let live for that
religion. She didn't say much, but sort of left it as some sort of threat.
I can write very short things too, still don't know what tl;dr means!
It seemed to start on this list, but it may just be some coincidence, I
have no way of knowing about. All I know is that I got three Computers
with Ubuntu on them that now don't work at all! That I get upgrades that
on reboot, make it so that my Computers no longer work! Guess I had to
Vent somewhere!
Alfred!
