trouble with todays update

Not really the same.

I cant log in because the keyboard doesn't work ( not a USB keyboard).

The keyboard works at the grub level, I can move up and down through the
list and hit enter at this point.
If I go to windows all works OK --- so the hardware is OK.
If I boot in any of the Linux kernels then when I get to the login screen
the keyboard and built-in mouse pad are dead.
If I run recovery mode the key board is dead.

I don't have a usb keyboard to try but the usb mouse does work.

I am loading in wubu in windows just so I can do a backup of the files in
the home folder before I loose all :-)

This machine is still running Ubuntu 9.10, so after the backup I will try
10.04

This definitely happened with the update today
