10.10 and hplip-3-10.9

A 14% improvement as now I am down to 6 dependencies. Will try the python update next as per error warning :

warning: There are 6 missing REQUIRED dependencies.
note: Installation of dependencies requires an active internet connection.
warning: Missing REQUIRED dependency: python-devel (Python devel - Python development files)
warning: This installer cannot install 'python-devel' for your distro/OS and/or version.

I'm guessing they have removed seldom used packages from the default install figuring those who need them will know what they need.

I know you said that gcc is installed, but this couldn't hurt.

sudo apt-get install build-essential

Being just a user with old experience [not current] I need help or direction with a dependency problem installing hplip. With 9.04 and 10.04 this would install and fix any dependency issues but with my fresh install of 10.10 it cannot resolve 'gcc' and halts. I have checked installed software and the package 'gcc' is installed.

I suspect it is a path problem but I don't know where to look. Until then I am print and scan deficient as my wireless hp all in one remains unconnected.

Where to look for answers/directions would be a great help
