Sounds like you may need to edit the Windows boot.ini file.

Here's the easy way:

- boot into Windows
- right-click My Computer (either on the Desktop or in the Start Menu) 
and choose Properties
- go to the Advanced tab
- click the Startup and Recovery button
- choose Ubuntu from the Default operating system drop down menu
- you can also edit how long you want to wait until it boots one or the 
other
- click OK
- click OK
- reboot

Hope that helped.  My instructions were for XP, it should be similar on 
Vista/Win7.
