no sound

I manage a security cam that records in .wmv format.  It plays fine on 
Windows Media Player, but on anything else (eg. VLC on both Windows and 
Linux) I can only see the key frames, which refresh maybe once a second.

I think that these .wmv files use a video stream for which only 
Microsoft has the proper codec.   Ray's problems are a perfect 
illustration of the problems with proprietary data formats.
