I don't see what everyone's getting all excited about. The
inauguration is available from a variety of difference sources, some
using Silverlight, some using Flash. http://inaugural.senate.gov/
will provide coverage via Flash, for example.
Of course they are both still proprietary solutions, but most users
have decided Flash is a necessary evil (ie. installed it) so most will
still be able to view it. To be convinced of why Flash is just as bad
as Silverlight, you may wish to read http://ossguy.com/?p=145 .
It's possible that some sites providing streaming content in other
forms, but I haven't thoroughly checked them out. If you have some
time, you may wish to go through the list at

to see if there are some standards-based solutions out there.
