I don't want to hijack an interesting conversation with my own issues, so I
thought I'd start another thread.

It's hard being a volunteer with no power. I've done what I can, in writing
(email, at least), to point out to them that they need to get legal; I have
no power to do more, but I think my behind is covered.

The FOSS on Windows approach is one I'm working on. I've got them using
Firefox; OpenOffice.org is installed on all their computers and I use it
when I'm there, so if they want to use anything I do they have to use it,
too (yes, I could save things in MS format, but then they wouldn't have to
use OOo). They're still using MS Office, though. It's hard to get away from
Excel and its macros. I think they're hooked on Outlook for email, although
they don't seem to be using any of the rest of it - maybe they could be
converted to Thunderbird.

Biggest headache: They're about to get a (legal!) copy of FileMaker Pro,
which runs okay for me in a VirtualBox XP window but would make Linux a hard
sell I don't know of a nice slick Linux database package - is there one?

Cheers, y'all
Leslie
