Hi:
I thought that today I would get these drivers working. After all this
was listed on Ubuntu Servers. Using a Jaunty Back port, for the drivers.
Well The Keys given did not work, the psb file could not be accessed.
While doing the install, it nicely un-installed 483 Megabytes of my
downloaded and installed software. Then on reboot it comes up with
Firestarter Firewall disabled. Then it comes up in terminal, I
checked /var/cache/apt/archives there are all the names of the files I
downloaded for my other two computers. init 5 does not work. Even with
sudo init 5
It is looking like someone made the repositories for the GMA500 Drivers
into a Virus of some sort. I'm not sure. Perhaps Grub will need to be
modified to boot up into X or perhaps this is not possible. Recovery
Mode does not seem to help much either. It would be nice to be able to
recover the GUI and be able to make use if it. Then again I don't have
that much experience with doing stuff like this.
There seemed to be many people that had bought the ACER ZA3 and ran into
the same sort of problems with the Poulsbo Chips for the video not
working in accelerated mode. If you are thinking of using this Driver,
consider this warning - Perhaps you should not use it, for all the
troubles it caused me so far!
Alfred!
