You will want to check the technical specifications of your device and
share the USB ID. This can be done by running the command 'lsusb' in a

The Novatel U998 is not listed on the NetworkManager Wikipedia page, but
there are others supported from Novatel...

...so it may be possible that it is supported.

The U998 I have hrad about came up with this USB ID:
1410:7030 Novatel Wireless

If so I think they were problematic because they contained both flash
memory and the 3G Modem.

Someone did get it working through command line tilities. Here is a link
to my research that may help[2][3].

If you chose to test this hardware, use the latest version of Ubuntu
(Karmic 9.10 Updated), you should be able to test it out at a Bell store
before purchasing it. Let us know how this works out for you so we can
update the wiki.
