HP has a great reputation with Linux support.  It never hurts to check
compatibility lists like
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardwareSupportComponentsPrinters,
http://www.fsf.org/resources/hw/printers, and
http://linuxprinting.org/ of course.  Generally speaking though, the
general consensus seems to be HP, Epson, and Brother are solid, Canon
sometimes makes a good appearance, and Lexmark is garbage.
