ubuntu-ca Digest, Vol 49, Issue 15 - Freezing Video Clips

Here is the solution I used that seems to work:

From the "Main Menu" choose [System] > [Administration] > [Software Sources] 
Under the Ubuntu tab checked all boxes with the exception of "Source Codes"

That should allow access to restricted applications.  There may , however, be 
another "switch" somewhere that I have forgotten about but that is a start.  
Perhaps someone else will add to this.
