Good Affordable Printer

You can get a print scan copy HP2110 on sale for about $40 CDN when you are
lucky.  I got mine from Walmart.  You need also to get a usb printer cable
(try the dollar store) and ink.  It comes with a demo cartridge which is
good enough to test the printer and align the scanner.

The printer installed automagically for me but I needed to configure HPLIP
to scan.

Try googling the ubuntu forums.
