Farewell, Ubuntu

I think if you read his original post, there was never any problem with
his sound (he got the drumroll at the GDM and had sound when he hit the
"test" button in gnome-sound-properties).....so I assume the problem is
one of 2 things.....either he is trying to playback a proprietary format
video in totem (or something like that) and he's getting the video, but
no audio becuase of the missing codec OR he's got a problem with a
specific application which is trying to grab the wrong sound daemon
(like audacity, which has had many quirks since the switch to pulse
audio)
