Domain name stuff?

I think the advice I received in this thread was wrong.

I did follow the advice given in the original e-mail from dyndns as well as following the information in this thread but it has been a waste of my time - my domain name has been shut down.

http://georutkay.homelinux.org     -- no longer works.

This is very frustrating and time consuming for me, already very much over-worked.

I'll ask this.......where can I get my domain registered for free and have it NOT do this expiration stuff to me?

well, you can do that, which would be super irritating, or you can set
up one of the many free dyndns clients to ping them automatically every
few hours.  the whole point of having a dynamic DNS service is that it
automatically updates when your IP address changes, which assuming
you're on residential DSL or cable it will once in a while.

some, but not all.  i suggest you read up a bit on DNS and subdomains.
wikipedia is a good place to start :)
