!! Wow. Ok. You are running Hardy on an old kernel then. What is
your partitioning scheme like?

Please tell me what was your original Ubuntu install and how did you do
your upgrade to Hardy?

It should be safe to use the commands I sent to remove kernels etc. and
remove the following ones:

2.6.24-16
2.6.24-17
2.6.24-18

so...

sudo apt-get remove linux-image-2.6.24-16-generic
linux-restricted-modules-2.6.24-26-generic
linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.24-16-generic linux-headers-2.6.24-16
linux-headers-2.6.24-16-generic

sudo apt-get remove linux-image-2.6.24-17-generic
linux-restricted-modules-2.6.24-17-generic
linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.24-17-generic linux-headers-2.6.24-17
linux-headers-2.6.24-17-generic

sudo apt-get remove linux-image-2.6.24-18-generic
linux-restricted-modules-2.6.24-18-generic
linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.24-18-generic linux-headers-2.6.24-18
linux-headers-2.6.24-18-generic

That will leave the kernel you are actually running and 2.6.24-19 which
is trying to be upgraded according to your other posts.

Then you can try the cleanup commands and see where you get to.

sudo apt-get install -f
sudo apt-get check
sudo dpkg --configure -a

BTW I am running 2.6.24-21 right now so we'll still have a ways to go
after this to make sure you are fixed.

hth.
