1. Provide hardware that you know is supported without patent-encumbered
drivers.
2. Break the law. Unfortunate but somewhat true at this point, especially
if you want Windows codecs. (Alternatively, I believe vendors can license
them from Flumotion at a per-unit cost.)
and/or
3. Have an "Act of Civil Disobedience" button on your desktop that downloads
things that are of dubious legality (you may need a Windows license also,
copyright might not apply in your country, etc)
