Monitor display has Disappeared

You could try the following:

1. Reboot your machine.

2. Stop at the Linux (Grub) boot menu. If you don't get this menu by
default (it goes too quick) press the Escape key early as soon as you
see the first Linux message fly by.

3. From the menu select the single mode kernel boot. The line says
something like (Single mode) at the end.

4. You're now at the root command. Type the following:

# sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

5. Reboot.

Hopefully your monitor will be back into a working condition.
