upgrading from Feisty to Gutsy

I'm looking for advice on upgrading my system from Feisty to Gutsy.

I am currently running Feisty 64bit on my dual core AMD X2 system. I
seem to be having problems with missing software and software that
doesn't work (due to 64bit I assume). I want to upgrade to Gutsy bit I
am a little hesitant.

Has anyone had any bad experiences with the upgrade? Also, I was
considering going to Gutsy 32bit (doing a full reinstall). If I do go
to 32bit can I expect a downgrade in performance or does it remain
roughly the same? Is 64bit even worth installing to begin with ?

Any advice is appreciated.
