Fwd: ATI Radeon x850 XT Platinum Edition

My only caveat, however, is that the fan on my card now seems to have revved
up a notch, compared to before, when I was using Windows and Kubuntu with
the generic drivers.
Does anyone know why this may be so? I'm not "extreme gaming" right now, but
merely typing text!

Never mind! Actually, I'm pretty excited. I figured out the problem on my
own: I installed the "Restricted Drivers Manager" from the repos, even
though it's an Ubuntu application, and now my card is working great.
As soon as I rebooted I could see a difference right away. Also, in my "ATI
control" all the features are now enabled.
Wicked!

Okay, I tried this, and it seems to have worked out except now in the "ATI
Control" part that is in my K menu I get the message "Driver does not
provide FireGL X11 extensions! Panel Components will operate only
partially."
Does anyone know what this means? More importantly, does anyone know what I
should do now?
Once I click "Okay," I get an ATI screen that is pretty sparse.
