I do a lot of playing around with new software packages, so I find my /
partition often gets close to 10 GB if I'm not careful to tidy up stuff I'm
not using. On the other hand it's a constant battle keeping my Windows
partition down to 10 GB, and I really don't do much on it at all.
I think we agree, though, that a separate partition for data you don't want
to lose is a good idea. And you might as well make it as big as possible.
