Hi Alfred

I just tried to install easycam2 (midnight pacific time), and it
worked without a problem. Luck of the draw, I guess.

As per https://help.ubuntu.com/community/EasyCam I simply added

  deb http://blognux.free.fr/debian unstable main

to /etc/apt/sources.list
then ran: sudo aptitude install easycam2
and ran: lauchcam2

and the application started.

I don't have a usb webcam connected right now, so that is a far as I get.

You might also need to do a: sudo aptitude install linux-headers-`uname -r`
