ubuntu blues

Hi Alfred, sounds to me like you know your stuff, and well, you seem
expertly inclined... 

on the install and updates and that... i had the one desktop going
perfect, then in the system tray, the notification came up saying about
updating, so, being the doilt i am, i clicked and started the update
process... was doing stuff etc, then it said, needed to reboot the
system, and then the Troubles began, right away, the bug buddy came up
and i tried to figure out what to do, i had lost the desktop, was in
some sort of safe mode and could not make that bugbuddy go away, so, by
thru all this, i then got the second system all set up, (using it now)
and then reinstalled the win xp cd on that buggy system, and formatted
it, then, after the win xp was loaded, an extremely limited version,
thanks to dell and propietary software, so, then i put the ubunut cd in
and reinstalled it yet again and this time, while both towers have the
ubuntu, am only using the one, till i can get some sort of voice chat
going with yahoo hook up capability... and so, i am wondering, what you
or anyone has to comment about the update issues.... like i said, the
desktop going now seems functional, and no problems yet, and not
planning to update, even tho it asks all the time....
