Sharing a Folder

Can anyone help me with setting Ubuntu  to share a folder.
Seems like a simple thing but I can't seem to get it to work.
I have shared the folder, I can see the Ubuntu computer from my windows 
computer but when I try to access the Ubuntu computer using my windows 
computer it asks for user name and password.
In Ubuntu I set up a user called "guest" with password of "guest".
I can't seem to get pass the user name password stage on the windows 
machine.

I have not been able to find anything to help me on this so far.

Can someone give me a step by step setup process.  I do this at work all 
the time on windows machines but I can't seem to get it set up between 
windows and Ubuntu.  Must be simple but I can't seem to figure it out.
