If you don't have 192Mb or more of RAM, be aware there are other ISOs
available for download that require less RAM, that you can burn to CD
and use to install.

That's right. There are "alternative" ISOs that are available for download,
for the i386, that contain X/K/Ubuntu, but without the graphical installer.
They work very well; I've used all three on older hardware (although Kubuntu
can be ridiculously slow on older hardware, so stay with Xubuntu).
If you've used anything before 6.06.1, the installation is the same: basic
blue screen that walks you through the installation. You might want to try
this alternative out. I have seen older computers that freeze on graphical
installation breeze through this method.
