The fastest fix is to update src/k3b.desktop and change:

Categories=KDE;Qt;AudioVideo;DiscBurning;System;Filesystem;

to:

Categories=KDE;Qt;AudioVideo;Audio;Video;DiscBurning;System;Filesystem;

I have filed a bug upstream to see what they think.
