ZFS also came to my mind. Why should ZFS be allowed to be compiled INTO
the kernel on one hand, and cdrtools not being shipped as a optional
software on the other hand?
Also, Debian ships ZFS using DKMS. On that matter, Ubuntu could also
provide packages like those (and/or flashplugin-installer) which don't
include the software directly, but download them from the original
cdrtools site and compile them locally if they really insist on the
licence problem. I don't know if there is any, I'm not a judge. Just
saying that there is more than only one solution. Maybe this could be
considered as well.
