While brasero continues to have some possibly confusing reporting on the
initial screen it now will actually  go ahead & burn a 4.7GB iso to a
dvd -r in 12.04, currently brasero (3.2.0-0ubuntu6) precise

So in that regard this bug can be considered fixed in 12.04
I will attach 2 screens to illistrate the possible confusing  point

Screen here is of a 4.7GB (4464MiB) iso,  brasero shows iso size of
4.7GB, f ree space 4.3GB, but no longer refuses to burn
