As a test I purged brasero:
$ sudo apt-get purge brasero

Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
The following packages will be REMOVED:
brasero*
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 1 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
After this operation, 606kB disk space will be freed.

Then inserted a blank CD & nautilus prompted to open CD/DVD Creator.
Allowed it to do that, dragged a picture folder to it, burned the cd,
ejected & reinserted & all files are fine. So aparently it *isn't*
brasero that is doing the cd burning from nautilus?
Checking further I see that purging brasero doesn't include purging:
brasero-common
libbrasero-media1
brasero-cdrkit
I'll purge those & try again.
