I'm running Karmic too now. Here, the problem is solved. (I did have
this problem too on Jaunty)

$ uname -r
2.6.31-14-generic

$ apt-cache policy brasero
brasero:
  Installed: 2.28.1-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 2.28.1-0ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 2.28.1-0ubuntu1 0
