In theory, this could be caused by disabled DMA or a broken writer.
It makes however sense to first replace the defective wodim by the
working original software:

ftp://ftp.berlios.de/pub/cdrecord/alpha/
http://cdrecord.berlios.de

and check again. 99% of all problems disappear when using the original
software.
