works fine in vista intel x64 core duo 2

I finally gave up on this though, I went to fry's electronics and bought
a usb dvd drive which works fine for both myself (ubuntu dual boot) and
my wife who has an old mac powerbook running os x.

I hope this gets fixed though for others who might unwittingly be stuck
with this particular drive.
